Emissions Station Registration Renewals

Participating stations can renew your registration after your vehicle has successfully passed the required emissions test. It’s fast, easy and convenient.

Remember there is no grace period in Nevada!

So if you are running out of time to renew your registration and don’t want to stand in line, stop by a participating Emission Station, get your vehicle tested, your registration renewed and be on your way.

A fee of up to $10.00 may be charged for each renewal in addition to the registration and emissions testing fees. Pro 1 only charges a $7.50 fee.

Pro 1 can process your registration renewal directly through the Emissions Analyzer that tests your vehicle. You will receive the registration certificate and decal in the mail.

  • Be sure to bring your registration renewal notice with you to the station.
  • If your renewal is late, the system will automatically add in the fees due. You may renew up to 18 months after expiration.
  • Pay DMV renewal fees by cash, check or major credit card.
  • Stations deposit cash and checks with the DMV on a daily basis. Credit cards are processes directly through the DMV
  • You will receive one receipt for the emissions inspection.
  • The station is allowed to charge a maximum of $10.00 for the renewal service in addition ot the normal fees. Pro 1 only charges $7.50 for this service.
  • You will receive a second receipt for the DMV renewal fees.

Diesel-powered cars & trucks need an annual emission test if they:

  • Have a manufacturer’s Gross Vehicle Rating of 10,000 pounds or less
  • Are based in the urban areas of Clark or Washoe County
  • Are 1968 model year or newer (New vehicles on their 1st & 2nd registrations are exempt; A test is required upon a vehicles 3rd registration.)

Emissions tests are valid for 90 days

You must have a valid test to complete any original registration or renewal if the vehicle requires a test as listed above. This includes reinstatement of a suspended registration.

Nevada requires used car dealers to issue a valid emissions test, when required, on any vehicle they sell. In private transactions, the test is the buyer’s responsibility.

Light duty diesel vehicles undergo testing on a dynamometer. The technician will also perform a test for visible smoke and a visual inspection of the emissions components.

You mest renew your vehicle registration by mail or in person at the DMV office. Diesel test results are not submitted to the DMV electronically. Please renew by mail or in person and include the paper emissions test paper.

Maximum testing fee is $37.50 in Washoe County. Pro 1 automotive charges $35.95You will receive one receipt for the emissions inspection
